1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using ByMyWord ("the App"), a 4LLs product, or by opening a word's ByMyWord page in a browser ("the Browser Pages"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App or the Browser Pages.
2. Description of Service
ByMyWord is a personal commitment tracking application that helps users set, track, and maintain personal commitments. From version 1.4, the App lets you start with one free habit, makes Pro optional, and creates each Word with a witness through a one-time creation fee shown before purchase. The fee is kept whether or not the Word is kept. Apple handles purchases and refunds, and statutory refund rights still apply. The App provides features including commitment creation, check-in tracking, streak monitoring, location-based verification, and Words with a witness. A Word is a promise with a clear criterion and a deadline, settled by one witness the owner chooses. The word starts only when the witness accepts in a browser and that browser confirms it. If the owner reports the word kept within 24 hours after the deadline, the witness has 48 hours from that report to answer. A witness's answer settles the word; errors or abuse can be reported to support. Anyone with a word's public link can follow it in the Browser Pages and read its title, criterion, deadline, level, creation fee paid when known, updates and outcome. The owner can turn that link off; this hides the page but does not cancel the word. ByMyWord sends no messages about a word; the owner shares each link. Witnesses and followers pay nothing, install nothing, need no account, and must be 18 or older.
Public publication is optional and has the same creation fee and features as a private Word. When you separately agree at creation, the title, criterion, self-chosen name, deadline, level name, creation fee actually paid when known, factual outcome and its source, witness-acceptance statement and audience count become publicly accessible after witness confirmation, on the Word's page and the public list. Amounts are shown in the currency paid and are never converted. Participant names and amounts not consented to or not known are not published. You cannot make a private Word public later. Ordinary withdrawal is available before witness confirmation and from 30 days after the recorded outcome. You may remove public access for privacy at any time; this records a support request and does not change the Word's outcome, fee or private links. Cancelled or refunded Words and content hidden by support or removed with the account are removed from public view. Removal is permanent in this version. Public names are self-chosen; witness acceptance does not verify identity or truth. Do not publish other people's private information, harassment, impersonation, dangerous or sexual content, or accusations. Report abuse or privacy concerns on each public Word or contact support; we review within 24 hours. You can block an author in your browser. Copies saved by others may remain after removal.
3. Subscriptions and Payments
One-time Word creation fee
In version 1.4 and later, creating a Word with a witness requires a one-time creation fee. The amount is shown before purchase. The fee is kept whether or not the Word is kept, including when it stays unconfirmed or is cancelled. A witness's answer records the outcome and does not change the payment. Apple handles purchases and refunds; your statutory refund rights still apply.
Membership
In version 1.4 and later, Pro is an optional auto-renewable membership, offered as monthly and annual plans. It unlocks unlimited private habits and location, timer, and start/finish check-ins. Without Pro in version 1.4 or later, you can create one habit with a manual check-in for free. Each new Word with a witness has a separate one-time creation fee; Pro does not include it. If Pro ends, your existing habits stay; only creating new ones is limited. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
Earlier purchases
Version 1.3 and earlier required Pro and charged a one-time creation fee for each commitment or invitation; those purchases keep their original terms, and active Pro memberships continue unchanged.
Renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the current price of your plan. Price decreases apply automatically at your next renewal. If the price of your plan increases, Apple will notify you in advance and, where required, ask for your consent before the new price applies.
Managing Subscriptions
You can manage and cancel your subscriptions by going to your Account Settings on the App Store after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
4. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate and complete information when creating your account and to keep this information up to date. You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App only for its intended purpose of personal commitment tracking. You shall not misuse the App, interfere with its normal operation, or attempt to access it through unauthorized means.
6. Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of the App — including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, and software — are the property of 4LLs and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Your use of the App is at your sole risk.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, 4LLs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the App.
9. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms of Use. Upon termination, your right to use the App will immediately cease.
10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Use at any time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
Community rules
Do not post threats, harassment, hate, sexual content or other people's private information. Content can be reported. ByMyWord may hide content and block people who break these rules. Contact support@bymyword.app.
